Roy A. Fava, Ph.D.
Dr. Fava has been a funded investigator at the White River Junction VA Medical Center since 1989 and has a dual appointment at Dartmouth College as an Associate Professor of Medicine.
Dr. Fava's research interests continue to be focused on the identification of new mediators and molecular pathways relevant to rheumatic disease and autimmunity. The goal is to identify new therapies for arthritis and related diseases. The grant is currently funded to evaluate inhibition of the lymphotoxin-beta recaptor axis as a treatment for Sjogren's Syndrome, a disease of exocrine glands for which there is no known treatment. This syndrome shares pathology with a variety of more common diseases and the results obtained are expected to translate into therapies for those diseases as well.
